With the weather now picking up, no doubt you’re all looking into all sorts of different outdoor pursuits in Staffordshire to keep the family entertained over the summer holidays (which are fast approaching!). If you feel in need of inspiration, here are just a few ideas to help get you all started. Enjoy!
Lodge Hill Bluebells
If you’re a family that loves a good walk head to Lodge Hill Bluebells over the next few weeks. Don’t expect to be greeted by a sea of blue now since the flowers were in full bloom by the end of April and have just passed their peak really but the woodland walks are still amazing – and you’ll know where to go for next year if you do want to see the bluebells in all their glory.
Llama trekking
You might think you’d only be able to go on a llama trek in Peru – but you’d be wrong! You can, in fact, go for a lovely relaxing walk with a llama in Barton-under-Needwood, which would certainly make for an interesting day out for all the family. You’ll learn all about the animals, lots about the local history and enjoy a fully guided nature walk.
Manifold Way
Those of you who’d rather get on your bike can do so along the Manifold Way, which is eight miles long and runs from Hulme End to Waterhouses through the Manifold Valley. It’s good for walkers as well, so don’t be put off if you’re not into your biking.
Trentham Monkey Forest
This is the only place in Britain where you can walk among Barbary macaques, which all roam free across 60 acres of stunning forestland. The kids will love it!
