Covid-19 Information – Updated 14/10/2020

In these uncertain times, we are so glad to be able to continue to deliver adventures and both indoor and outdoor experiences to you. We have put together a comprehensive guide of what we are doing to keep you safe and how we are operating in the midst of the pandemic.

We are proud to have the “We’re Good To Go”  industry standard at all our activity centres. “We’re Good To Go” is the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

*A Covid Secure Organisation will have produced a COVID-19 risk assessment to reduce risk to the lowest possible levels by identifying and implementing effective control measures and display a Covid Secure poster in your workplace to show they have followed government guidance on managing COVID-19 transmission risks.

Following the latest announcements on 12th October please refer to the posters on the links below to ensure you are following the correct advice for your local area:

Medium Alert – Tier 1

High Alert – Tier 2

Very High Alert – Tier 3

The government has stated the risk of cross-contamination of the virus outdoors is low.  Outdoor activities are amongst the very safest environments to take part in activities. Peak further reduces any residual cross contamination risk to the lowest level by putting in place a number of additional measures including:

  • Social distancing is built into our operating procedures.
  • Sanitising stations are available to customers and staff during your Peak experience.
  • We recommend the wearing of gloves for comfort on our treetop courses – feel free to either bring your own or purchase gloves from us on arrival.
  • Our consent forms can now be read and completed online to avoid shared pens and paper.
  • Payments can be cashless at site or paid in advance through our booking system.
  • Any sundry items you may wish to buy from us on the day can be paid for using contactless payment methods.
  • We have reduced capacity on our activities. Pre-booking limits participant numbers to safely manageable numbers, staggered throughout the day.
  • We have increased the cleaning frequency of frequent touch points, including in our cabins and harnesses.

If I have an existing booking for more than 5 people are we still able to come?

If you have booked for more than 5, you will need to be responsible for dividing your group into different bubbles of no more than 5 in each bubble and include non-participants. You must arrive at the Centre already divided into your separate bubbles. You will all still be able to participate together, but each bubble will proceed in order, one after the other, maintaining social distancing at all times.

Peak has been certified as a Covid-19 Secure organisation. That means than whilst you are with us, you can be assured that we can comply with the latest government guidance. Our methods of operations have been agreed with our Primary Authority, (an independent government health and safety organisation with national authority).

My household group is more than 5. Can we all come?

Yes. A single household group of more than 5 people including anyone in their support bubble, can book and participate as separate bubbles of 5.

Can I socially distance?

Yes. All our adventures are designed to operate in compliance with social distancing rules, as well as all other current government guidance and legislation.

The responsibility for ensuring that social distancing is maintained at all times has to be a joint effort between Peak staff and participants. Participants should courteously speak out where they see other participants not adhering to proper social distancing.

Customers are asked to respect social distancing rules and manage them themselves, as it is not always easy for patrolling staff to know which participants are in the same household. If you do have any concerns at any point, please make these concerns known to our staff. Our instructors are there to help but may not be present at all times during your Peak adventure.

Does the recent government guidance about groups of more than 6 people meeting up change my booking?

We have everything in place to keep you safe and allow you to distance from other members of your group should you need to.

Do I need to book in advance?

We will be limiting numbers on sessions to manage numbers on our sites so it is a good idea to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

How busy will it be?

At Peak, we have limited capacity for our activities during Covid-19. Our booking system limits participant numbers to safely manageable numbers, staggered throughout the day for our land-based and water-based activities.

How can I be harnessed up for treetops whilst keeping social distancing rules?

Customers will be instructed on how to fit their own harnesses themselves, under the close supervision of our instructors who will keep 2m distanced. Should instructors need to physically adjust the fit of a harness our instructors will be wearing a full-face shield or face mask. If harnesses need adjusting whilst out on the course, our instructors will be wearing a full-face shield or Face Mask or will fit the harness from behind the customer so that no face to face contact occurs at close quarters. Parents will harness their children and themselves. A final safety check will be done by the instructor.

What is the maximum number of people that I can invite to a Peak activity (including parties)?

As Peak is a Covid-19 Secure Guidance organisation, (we can maintain social distancing during your activity at Peak, following government guidance,) the maximum number is 30. This number has been approved by our Primary Authority, an independent government body. We have completed thorough risk assessments and introduced additional opportunities for hand hygiene, equipment cleaning and social distancing to comply with COVID-19 secure guidelines.  Our operating procedures have been approved and signed off by our Primary Authority.

Please follow Government advice while you are participating on an activity with us.  Government advice is you should take care to limit your interactions with anyone outside of your group and you should continue to maintain social distancing from those that you do not live with which is critical to keep both yourself and others safe.

What happens to my booking if Peak are forced to close again due to COVID-19?

Should your booking not be able to proceed we will be happy to, free of charge, reschedule for a future date, or arrange a gift voucher for the full value of your booking, redeemable until the end of 2021 or within 12 months, whichever is the longer.

Should I wear a face mask and gloves?

The Government does not recommend the wearing of face coverings in the outdoors. If you feel more comfortable wearing a face covering then you are able to do so at Peak. We do recommend wearing gloves (i.e woollen) for comfort and for hand protection whilst on treetops courses. Feel free to either bring your own, or purchase gloves and collect from us on arrival.

Do I need to sign a disclaimer?

You will need to read the safety rules and consent forms before you arrive at Peak. These will be emailed to you with your booking confirmation. You must make sure you have completed this before you arrive at the centre or complete it at the site before you participate.

Can I book a birthday party?

We can accept bookings for more than 6 people, but you will be responsible for dividing your party into groups of no more than 6 in each bubble.

Can I still hire a Mobile Climbing Wall?

Yes, it is available for hire in Staffordshire, Cheshire, Manchester, West Midlands, Derbyshire and beyond.  We can still provide mobile climbing wall hire to bring an element of adventure to your event.  The mobile climbing wall can be used to develop communication, trust, leadership, and motivation.  The wall is 6 metres high and capacity 2 has been reduced to 2 at a time with covid-19.  It’s staffed by Peak instructors and suitable for adults and children.  Contact Peak Activity Services today or call us on 01782 722226 to discuss your requirements

What should I wear?

For Treetops Adventures
Due to the nature of our activities you may get a little bit dirty due to different weather conditions and the obstacles, please dress accordingly and wear something a little older you don’t mind getting wet and/or dirty. We recommend you wear gloves for comfort. Bring your own or purchase them from our cabin. Dress for the weather so bring along a mac if the forecast is for rain as the activity will still go ahead except for extreme weather. Please wear suitable footwear which can’t fall off easily. This should offer protection to your toes and heel. Don’t wear sandals, flip flops, slip-off or high heel shoes. Your stomach area will need to be covered to prevent the harness rubbing, and long hair must be tied back to prevent entanglements in the equipment.

Water & Land Activities
Please wear suitable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet and dirty. Life jackets are mandatory and will be provided with you water sport booking, except for Self-Launch where you need to bring your own or hire one from us. Dress for the weather so bring along a mac if the forecast is for rain as the activity will still go ahead except for extreme weather. Please wear suitable footwear which can’t fall off easily. This should offer protection to your toes and heel. Please do not wear wellies for water activities as they can become filled with water.

Indoor Climbing:
We advise you wear comfortable clothing for our indoor climbing sessions. Clothes that you can move around freely in are great and shoes that are not too chunky to enable you to feel the wall through the soles.
